William C. Cowardin, Jr.

Mr. Cowardin is a cofounder of the firm. A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (1963) and Marshall Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary (1966). He served as a judge advocate on active duty with the United States Air Force until 1970 and on reserve until 1988. He has maintained a private practice of law in Newport News since 1970. An active member of the bar and the Newport News community, he is served on the board and is president of the Metro YMCA, two terms as seventh judicial circuit representative to the Council of the Virginia State Bar, nine years as chairman of the Newport News City Planning Commission. He is past president of the Newport News Bar Association as well as Commissioner in Chancery for the seventh Judicial Circuit. He is served on the finance committee of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church since 1987. Mr. Cowardin’s range of practice covers 45 years before state and federal courts concentrating on real estate, finance, zoning and estate planning, and civil litigation.
